About Kevin Wilk, PT, DPT, FAPTA:
Kevin E. Wilk served as President of the Sports Section of the APTA from 2007 to 2010 and has trained more than 4,000 professionals through hands-on seminars and spoken to tens of thousands at more than 750 events worldwide.
For the past 30 years, Dr. Wilk has been an active physical therapist, researcher, and educator. Kevin is currently Associate Clinical Director for Champion Sports Medicine (a Physiotherapy Facility) in Birmingham, AL.
In addition, he is the Director of Rehabilitative Research at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham and is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Kevin is also the Rehabilitation Consultant for the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Team. Dr. Wilk received his physical therapy from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL and his DPT from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of HealthCare Professions in Boston, MA.

Day 1 Shoulder-
- By the end of the course the participant will explain the definitions of laxity and instability for a patient undergoing an initial shoulder evaluation.
- By the end of the course, given the findings of a post-surgery evaluation of a female athlete following rotator cuff repair, the participant will explain 4 specific risk factors associated with the risk of developing stiffness.
- By the end of the course, the participant, using evidence-based data for a patient recovering from RC repair, will discuss two rationales of an individualized, gradual, progressive rehab program.
- By the end of the course, given a patient following rotator cuff repair, will design a protocol using five advanced strengthening phase exercises.
- By the end of the course, for a patient with a diagnosis of Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder) will develop a comprehensive protocol for rehabilitation.
- By the end of the course, for a patient with a suspected SLAP lesion showing high specificity and sensitivity, integrate three tests for evaluation.
- By completion of the course, for a non-operative overhead throwing athlete with osteophyte, the participant will be able to design a rehabilitation using 4 components discussed in the course.
Day 2 Knee-
- By completion of the course, for a female patient at risk for an ACL Injury, the participant will be able to differentiate between 3 biomechanical and 3 neuromuscular variations.
- By completion of the course, for a female athlete at risk for an ACL injury, the participant will be able to explain 3 anatomical variations that increase the risk of injury.
- By completion of the course, for a post-operative patient with a non-isolated ACL injury, the participant will be able to explain three side effects.
- By the completion of the course, the participant will be able to justify slow rehabilitation for an athlete who has undergone a Hamstring autograph versus an athlete who has undergone bone, patellar, tendon autograft.
- By the end of the course, for a patient with an ACL deficiency, the participant will be able to articulate 4 tissue type allografts utilized in reconstruction.
- By the end of the course, for an athlete needing to develop core strength, the participant will be able to demonstrate t therapeutic exercises using a Swiss Ball.
- By the end of the course, for a post-op athlete exhibiting ACL loss of motion, the participant will be able to choose 4 treatments to increase knee extension and range of motion.
- By the end of the course, the participant will be able to explain 5 factors contributing to the development of trigger points in skeletal muscle in a patient with hyperalgesia.
- Seminar includes coffee breaks and handouts. Lunch is not included.
